Some truly ugly racism reared its head on MSNBC today.

On The Cross Connection, host Tiffany Cross on Saturday had as a guest someone she described as “our audience favorite,” and “my pal”: Elie Mystal of the far-left Nation magazine. Rather than discuss the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, the topic of the segment, Cross sought to make the connection to the gun-rights case currently before the Supreme Court.

At one point, Mystal savaged all white gun owners: “I contend that what they care about is using their guns on black people and getting away with it. That’s what they want.”

But Mystal took things in a different direction, making the connection to Biden’s just-completed victory lap of a press conference regarding the House’s passage of an infrastructure bill.

Said Mystal:

“I think it actually links up with your prior segment and the Biden press conference. Because, what the Democrats’ theory of the case is, is that the white non-college-educated voter cares about things like kitchen-table issues, like infrastructure. and pipes and how many gallons of milk you can put on the table.”

I contend that what they care about is using their guns on black people and getting away with it. That’s what they want. That’s what they actually are in it for.”

“White non-college-educated voters”: the demographic that liberals love to hate. They were Obama’s “bitter clingers,” who in Hillary’s iteration became the “deplorables.”

And now, Mystal takes it a grotesque step further, depicting them as nothing less than bloodthirsty, racist killers.

Of course, the real crime of these people—in the eyes of liberals— is their tendency to vote Republican.

An MSNBC “audience favorite” and “pal” claiming that what white, non-college-educated voters care about is “using their guns to on black people and getting away with it” was sponsored in part by Google, Volvo, Kraft, maker of Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Amazon, and Procter & Gamble, maker of Downy.

TIFFANY CROSS: Joining me now to talk about all of this and more, our audience favorite, justice correspondent at The Nation, and my pal, Elie Mystal. Elie, so happy that you’re here. Because I’ve wanted to talk about these Supreme Court cases. Because I feel like the gun case is a big deal.

I’m going to leapfrog over that for a second because in this Ahmaud Arbery case, where the jury is all white, and you have these men declaring themselves deputizing themselves, somebody to, you know, shoot this man!

When I was watching this case, I thought about the Supreme Court Second Amendment case, and expanding gun rights, and I think about the three men who are accused of killing Ahmaud Arbery having more access to guns. It does not seem like a good combination.

ELIE MYSTAL: Yeah, I think it actually links up with your prior segment and the Biden press conference. Because, what the Democrats’ theory of the case is, is that the white non-college educated voter cares about things like kitchen-table issues, like infrastructure. and pipes and how many gallons of milk you can put on the table.”

I contend that what they care about is using their guns on black people and getting away with it. That’s what they want. That’s what they actually are in it for.
