A star Black athlete in New York has left his high school after an assistant athletic director told him he became fast by “running from police.”

Tony Humphreys, a 16-year-old junior who has already committed to play baseball at Boston College, told PIX Channel 11 that the incident occurred after he joined Iona Prep’s track team in the offseason.

“He comes up to me, and asked why was I doing track,” Humphrey said of the assistant athletic director.

“It never hurts to gain speed,” Humphrey said he responded.

“But the educator implied Humphrey was already fast enough. And he had a reason,” the station reports. “Humphrey said the assistant AD said the teen ‘gained that speed by running from the police.'”

After Humphrey told his mother about the assistant athletic director’s remark, they decided he would transfer from Iona Prep — a private school in New Rochelle — to a public school near their home in Cortland.

Humphrey said it wasn’t the first time he experienced racism at Iona Prep.

“My freshman year, I took it up with the deans, I took it up with the higher ups, and nothing happened to the other student,” he said.

On Tuesday, other students at Iona Prep staged a walkout in support of Humphrey. Iona Prep announced in a letter to parents that the assistant athletic director accused of making the remark has resigned.

On Wednesday, ABC4 reported that the University of Utah is investigating reports of a racist incident that allegedly occurred on campus in September.

“In late September 2021, a university contractor was making a delivery to the loading dock at a residence hall on campus,” reported Kiah Armstrong. “As he was on the dock, two students in a room above allegedly shouted the N-word. The students also threw sunflower seeds and coffee pods out the window at the contractor, a press release from the University says.”

The school says that the incident was reported immediately and school officials were able to quickly identify the responsible individuals, who are now being investigating for committing a hate crime.

“These actions will be called out for what they are — behaviors rooted in hate and racism,” said University of Utah President Taylor Randall in a statement. “I will remain steadfast and vocal in our working with our leadership team to create a safe, welcoming, and equitable campus that fosters values of respect, diversity, inclusivity, and belonging. I encourage everyone on our campus to do the same.”

The report comes amid a number of other racist incidents at schools around the country. In Midlothian, Texas, a high school student was caught on video calling Black people the N-word and telling them to go back to Africa. And UMass Amherst has hired a cybersecurity firm to investigate a series of racist emails targeting Black students.

Cobb County Senior Assistant District Attorney Linda Dunikoski on Wednesday talked with CNN’s Jim Acosta about her successful prosecution of Ahmaud Arbery’s murderers, and she described how her strategy revolved around attacking the idea that Travis McMichael, Gregory McMichael, and William Bryan were acting in self-defense.

“I wanted to make sure that the jury understood that the self-defense case was absolute garbage, that is not what took place and I was doing my best in the moment to dismantle it,” she explained, before adding that she wasn’t sure how successful she was until after the verdict was rendered.

During the trial, the defense tried to argue that the three defendants were attempting to make a “citizens arrest” of Arbery while he was in their neighborhood.

However, under cross examination, they admitted that they didn’t witness Arbery committing any crimes and did not even inform Arbery that they were attempting a citizens arrest.

Duninkoski also criticized defense attorney Laura Hogue’s decision to invoke Arbery’s physical appearance to paint him as a potential threat to the community, including her description of Arbery as wearing “khaki shorts with no socks to cover his long, dirty toenails.”

“I was surprised,” she said. “And I looked at Ms. Hogue when she did that and I couldn’t believe she said it. So I’m sure the jurors, some of them must have had the same reaction.”

Michael Flynn, former president Donald Trump’s one-time national security adviser, claims “global elites” are plotting to “impose” a new virus on the world, after their “little plan” of “COVID tyranny” failed.

Flynn, who’s been linked to the QAnon conspiracy movement, appeared Wednesday on a talk show hosted by another conspiracy theorist, InfoWars’ Alex Jones.

Jones asked Flynn, “General, how is the empire going to strike back? With all this election fraud coming out, the corrupt forces aren’t going to lay on their back. They’re going to try to stop us from having a real election in a year.”

Flynn responded by saying he believes the “corrupt forces” Jones referenced will focus on maintaining and increasing their control. He proceeded to lay out three predictions, including firstly a “financial manipulation or collapse.”

“No. 2, we’re going to see an uptick in other aspects of the COVID,” Flynn said. “We’ve got the various variants. There might even be another form of a SARS that’s imposed on the international system. Their little plan with COVID didn’t work because too many people — you know, the world of what I call the digital warriors, or the citizen journalists that are out there — they are fighting for the truth, and so the truth has been exposed about all the COVID tyranny that we are facing.”

Flynn added that he expects to see “potentially another type of virus that’s imposed on the public.”

“I hope that that’s not the case, but I’ve seen some indications of that in some of the statements by some of these global elite type of people,” Flynn said.

Finally, Flynn said he expects to see a “targeted type of shutdown” using the federal emergency broadcast system.

“They can shut everything down, and now the government is going to tell you what you need to know,” he said.
